Some of you have noticed I haven’t posted a blog post in three weeks or more. Normally I post every Monday or Tuesday. Well folks, I simply have not had time to write. There have been some shifts in principles in our business and, as a result, I have been covered up.
Today however I am taking just a moment (before sundown) and posting a small note to my friends and followers.
At sundown today (September 22nd, 2015) the holiest day on the Jewish calendar begins and runs through sundown tomorrow, Wednesday the 23rd .
Yom Kippur (pronounced: yohm kee-poor). Translated it means, “Day of Atonement”.
This is that one day most ‘church folks’ have heard of wherein the High Priest alone would go into the Holy of Holies to make atonement for his sins and the sins of Israel.
It is a day of fasting and repentance. It is a day of introspection, of reflection, of confession, and of getting right, and accepting the forgiveness and restoration of God.
It also sets the tone for the year. Do you want to start the year off in humility and repentance before God? Do you want to start the year off in a state of forgiveness and restoration? Yeah, I thought so.
(Start of the year? But this is September. Yes, on our calendar. Rosh Hashanah, the Head of the Year, was September 13th-15th. The beginning of the Jewish New Year)
If you would like to read more about this observance, please see this link…http://www.hebrew4christians.com/Holidays/Fall_Holidays/Yom_Kippur/yom_kippur.html
At this point, I’m not sure when I’ll write again. Thanks for waiting to see.
What does God have for you…just around the corner?
