After 9/11, thousands gathered in churches across the country. It appeared there may be a national return to God. But it never came. In fact, instead of revival, the country has gone even faster down the moral apostate decline. There was increasing talk about America being a “Post Christian“ society. Polls saw a growing departure from Biblical ethics and values. This turn from God was more pronounced among the younger generations.
In the fall of ancient Israel, the nation decided they could rewrite right and wrong, good and evil, sin and righteousness. America is doing the same thing.
Look at our country today.
What was once right in every sense of the word, from right having been taught to every child from the foundation of this great nation, to right in just plain common sense, is now being attacked as evil.
What was once easily recognized as sin, is now lauded as virtue.
Morals, values, and standards that have been the foundation of this country are being overturned, overruled, and completely discarded today. And those who will not go along with these progressive changes, those who continue to uphold what was once universally upheld as good and right, are being vilified and condemned by the culture and the state.
America’s moral decent has reached a point right now, my friends, where the government is seeking to force those who hold to God’s Word, to go against that Word. Those who remain faithful and will not comply will be fined and ostracized.
Isaiah 5:20, Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that out darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
However, as I said at church today, judgement is NOT punishment. Judgement is God’s radical attempt to get a people’s attention, a people who will not listen and return to the God of their fathers, so that they will wake up to the truth and return to Him. God does not want any to perish, but all to come to repentance and everlasting life.
Deuteronomy 5:29, O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always,…
If that verse stopped right there, we might assume God was egotistical and simply wanted us under His thumb. Of course those of us who know Him, know He is nothing like that. So what is His purpose in wanting us to obey His commandments? Let’s finish the verse…
Deuteronomy 5:29, O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
Because His commandments are for our good and He designed them that way, as a loving Father, because He does love us so much.
Judgement is coming. Turn to Him NOW and humble yourself before Him…before He has to do the humbling for you.
What does God have for you…just around the corner?
