A Blessing for You

Final

I have a short devotion for you today. Short, but powerful if you claim the blessing I am about to show you and hide it in your heart.

In Psalms 20, King David writes a blessing. I’m not sure who the blessing was intended for but since the Bible doesn’t say exactly and since it has been recorded for all time in the Scriptures, I tend to believe it is a blessing for you and me; anyone that reads it.

Please allow me to speak it to you today.

Psalms 20:1-9, The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;  Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;  Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.  Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel. We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.  Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

I was talking with someone once about verse 7, and he said, Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. And I thought, wait a minute, that’s not how that goes. It doesn’t say, “we will trust in the name of the Lord our God”; it says, “we will remember the name of the LORD our God”.

Not a big deal, you say? Actually it is. Why do we trust Him? We trust Him because we remember all that He has done. In fact He tells us to always remember how He brought us out of the Land of Egypt, and so forth. (See Deut. 5:15, Deut. 7:18, Deut. 8:2, Deut. 15:15, Deut. 16:3, Deut. 16:12, Deut. 24:18, Deut. 24:22, and that’s just Deuteronomy).

The point is, we remember all that He has done so we can trust Him for all our today and all our future. Our entire future is in His hands and we have every reason to trust Him, His purpose, His plans, His love.

21 young men, young men who are followers of Jesus Christ The Lord, trusted Him all the way to the end, as just week before last each of them were beheaded for the simple reason they ARE followers of Jesus Christ.

Trust Him like these 21 do. Take the blessing of David and keep it on your mind this week.

What does God have for you…just around the corner?
