Would you like to see God’s glory? Just ask.
Exodus 33:18-19, And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
What nerve!!! Can you believe Moses had the nerve to ask God to show him His glory? Who did he think he was? What man on earth was ever good enough to even THINK he could ask God to show them His glory?
Fortunately it doesn’t have anything to do with our being good enough. It has has to do with how good God is. It has to do with how much He loves us. In fact He WANTS to show us His glory. We should all be so bold, as Moses, to ask God to show us His glory. It only takes getting to the place where we WILL ask. It takes getting to a place where we humble ourselves before Him and become so hungry for HIM, just HIM; not anything we want OF Him or FROM Him, but just hungry for Him and Him alone. His presence, His holiness, His purity, His love and grace. That is where He will show us things we have never seen before, that is where we will see His glory.
As I read this passage, another verse really spoke to me. Read it slowly…
Exodus 33:21, And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:
“There is a place by ME”,…He said. There is a place by God, a place where He wants you and I to stand beside Him, to walk alongside Him, to bask in His presence and goodness, to fellowship with Him, as surely as Adam and Eve walked with Him and fellowshipped with Him in the cool of the day. It is a place of peace and rest. It is a place of assuredness and certainty. It is a place of comfort and strength. It is a place where we can find whatever help we need from the only One that can truly help.
“There is a place by Me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock…” A solid rock. The rock of our salvation where, even though we are surrounded by a sin-fallen world that seems to be crumbling all around, we will not be moved.
Have you been in this place by God lately? He wants you there. I think it’s time you met Him there again. Go to your prayer closet now. Go find a quiet place where you and God can meet. Go to that place by Him and stand upon the rock.
What does God have for you…just around the corner?
