Is God Still God?

God has really been dealing with me in a particular area of my life and, as I wrote in my last post, I am really beginning to realize that Jesus Christ REALLY IS the same yesterday, today, and forever. I have always known it and believed it but it has been revealed in a whole new level of understanding for me.

I am amazed as I take notice of all the counterfeits the devil has enticed our world with. People are hungry for God, they have a deep need for God inside but they don’t realize it is God they need unless someone tells them. All they know is that they need something, that there is something more.

Many in this generation are seeking in the wrong places. Magic, occult, masonry, witchcraft, astrology, horoscopes, levitation, telepathy, tarot cards, astral projection, hypnotism, …did you know the list was so long? I am certain there are more I could mention.

What about false religions people try out? Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Hare Krishna, etc.

Jesus is the only One Who can actually change hearts and lives, but is He doing it in our churches today? Can He do what He did in the Gospels today? Can He do what He did in the New Testament today? Is He really the same yesterday, today, and forever?

Lets look at the Southern Baptist Churches of which I am a part. Young people are falling out of church by the droves. As much as 80% of young people who leave home and now make the decision for themselves to go to church, without Mamma and Daddy telling them to, do not attend.

You may be tired of seeing me write this or hearing me say it, but it is the thing God keeps showing me over and over again…having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof…(2 Tim 3:5).

Most churches are loving. Most churches are caring. Most churches are sincere. Most of those same churches are as dead as a door-nail and only have religious programs handed down and sold to them from corporate Lifeway Stores so that they may continue to have dead Sunday School programs and dead Sunday services.

I submit to you that what is missing from most of our churches is the power of the Holy Spirit Himself. He is supposed to be the Chief Presiding Officer over the church. He is supposed to tell us what to do and how to worship (John 16:12-15). We just won’t take the time to listen. More than that, the problem is we have been so long in these dead churches with dead teaching and a denying of God’s very real power, that we just don’t BELIEVE.

Matthew records an event in the earthly life of the Lord in Matthew 13:58, And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

What do we do to correct this fault? Another verse that God has been continually bringing to my mind lately…Mark 9:24, And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.

Do you believe the Lord is the same as He ever was? Cry out to Him and ask Him to help your unbelief and then grab hold of every promise and gift that the Word of God (not Lifeway) proclaims is yours!

And then ask yourself…

What does God have for you…just around the corner?
