Mark 11:24, Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Many verses of scriptures teach us to couple prayer with thanksgiving. 1 Tim. 4:4, Colossians 4:2, and Philippians 4:6 are just a few (yeah, you have to get your Bible to look them up).
Now stay with me, you will be hard-pressed to find anyone in the entire Bible that prays silently. Nearly every prayer recorded in the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is spoken OUT LOUD.
I have taught in years past on the power of the spoken word. There is great power in the spoken word, the spoken blessing, the spoken prayer. Please be aware however, there is power in both the negatively and the positively spoken word.
When we pray OUT LOUD before God so that we hear ourselves and when we speak thanksgivings in those prayers, our brain registers those thanksgivings as good things.
Let me say that again, our God-given brain registers those thanksgivings as good things. The devil doesn’t like that and he flees (this is called resisting the devil).
Giving thanks out loud to God actually puts you in a positive mood.
That positive mood conditions your mind to believe the good things God has for you. It conditions your mind to believe the abundant life we can have. Giving thanks out loud impresses positive feelings on your mind and you begin to believe like you never have before.
Just as the father of a child cried out to Christ in Mark 9:24, And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief, God has given us the tool we need through giving thanks out loud in prayer to help our unbelief.
What does God have for you…just around the corner?
