On November 4th 2008, President Elect Obama made his victory speech in Chicago, IL. I knew before the election, as many of you did, that were he elected, we would be in big trouble. That very first night, the President himself confirmed just how much trouble we would be in.
In his victory speech the President made this statement, “”It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.”
Did you notice the word “gay” in that paragraph? I remember it like it were yesterday. As soon as it came out of his mouth, Holy Ghost red flags popped up all over my very soul. The President of the United States had included “gay” with all these other categories of people just like it were completely normal.
Now lets stop and think about this for just a moment. Since that night in November 2008 the United States has experienced the w0rst economic crisis since the great depression and we are not out of it yet. Most of the country has now become aware of the our deficit like never before and many realize it is most likely irreversible and that we will inevitably go bankrupt as a nation.
Flooding and earthquakes have set records this past year, and indeed in just the past few months. Record-setting forest fires in California have wiped out thousands of acres of forests, as well as burned people out of their homes. Violent crimes are on the rise everyday.
Proverbs 14:34, Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.
Jeremiah 18:7-10, At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it; If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.
Mark 1:14-15, Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
What does God have for you…just around the corner?
