When was the last time you had a real problem come into your life, I mean a real hard pill to swallow, and you just praised the Lord for it?
Psalms 119:71, It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
It is good, he says? Why? Take a look at verse 67, Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word.
BEFORE he was afflicted, he went astray. Affliction brought him back to God! He said it is good that I am afflicted because it is there, in that affliction, that he really got in the word and prayer and learned God’s statutes.
Romans 5:1-3, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
I know a married couple who had some trouble come into their lives. They fell on their knees before God together and cried out, “Oh Lord, what are we going to do?!” Over a few days and even weeks time, their prayer went from “Oh Lord, what are we going to do?”, to “Oh Lord, thank You for this trouble.”
Why? Because through that trouble they realized they had gotten closer to the Lord than they had ever been. Trouble causes us to go where we need to have been all the time, before the Mercy Seat of God’s Throne.
What does God have for you…just around the corner?
