Applied Faith

Wow! Church was good this morning! I really appreciate all the input and interaction. That’s what it’s all about; believers sharing and learning from one another.

Some of you who are, or were, at Middlefork may remember Ole’ Bro. Kyle’s simple, country-boy definition (I have to keep it simple :)) of “faith”. Do you remember? Faith is belief in action.

This morning we had a really good discussion on fear. Fear is the very thing that keeps us from fulfilling our calling. Fear is the very thing that keeps us from living the abundant life. Just as we looked up this morning, Rev. 21:8 lists “fearful” as the very first person who will have their place in the Lake of Fire. As I thought about that through the day, some things came to me…

FEAR is faith in reverse gear. Fear is a negative belief in something, and belief is the very foundation of faith. Faith tells us to boldly go forward. Fear tells to back pedal. Faith tells us to go ahead with the plans you feel you are getting from God. Fear tells you to stop, what if it doesn’t work? Faith tells you to stand up for Jesus. Fear tells you to sit down and shut up.

Bottom line…may we NOT live our God-given lives in fear.

Lord bless you today.
