He Stands at the Door and Knocks

Today, Sept 27th, 2009,  is “Yom Kippur”, “The Day of Atonement”. Praise God for His atoning blood that cleanseth us from all sin! (1 John 1:7)

How many times have you read Revelation 3:20, Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

How many times have you heard it preached to the lost that the Lord is knocking on their hearts door wanting to come in and save them? I must admit, I have preached it myself. But read it very carefully. Read the entire chapter in context. He is not talking to the lost, He is talking to the Church in the last of the last days before His return. That is what the church of Laodicea represents.

The Lord is knocking on the door of the Church today, wanting in. He is saying that the Church today, for the most part, is lukewarm. We think we have everything, we think we are rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing (rev 3:17).

It has gotten to the point that much of the Church doesn’t even realize that we are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked (Rev 3:17).

Revelation 3:18-19, I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Do you need to get right with God? He is there, He is knocking, He is wanting you to just come to Him and tell Him you need Him. His mercy endureth forever. His blood is sufficient to cleanse all your sins. He WANTS to restore a right relationship with you. He is there. Knocking. Please answer Him today. What better day than this Day of Atonement to fast and pray before the Lord and get right with Him.

Lord bless.
