Did that title throw you for a loop? I’ve actually preached this message back at Middlefork years ago. God revealed to me a few years ago, as I was praying about wanting to serve Him and please Him and crying out about my sorrow over sin, God told me not to try NOT to sin.
WHAT? Don’t try not to sin? That almost sounds sacrilegious. But what God was telling me was this; if we try not to sin, we are focused on the wrong thing. We are focused on sin. Stop and think about it. Instead of trying not to sin, try to do good and not sinning will naturally follow.
Let’s put out focus on doing good things, Titus 2:13-14, Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
May we strive to focus on good works for the glory of God today. May we love one another as He loves us and gave Himself for us.
